So why Wotgigs?
After a night at a local record club listening to David Nolan talking about his book “I swear I was there.” About the legendary Sex Pistols gig at Manchester Free Trade Hall in 1976.
The one where half of Manchester claims they were there or know someone who was! - If you want to know how many were actually there, check out
David Nolan's book
It got me thinking about the gigs I've been to.
I started a list. Then thought about all the gigs everyone else had been to...
All those memories, ticket stubs, programmes, photos and videos - lost forever or stuck in a drawer somewhere.
What if there was one place that all this stuff could be archived and shared with everyone else that is interested.
Wotgigs!
I had the idea, I registered the domain name I knew what I wanted it to do but I couldn’t make my idea into reality.
But I knew a man who may be able to. My mate Jim, web developer, designer, musician and all round good bloke.
After a brief conversation outlining my thoughts we were on the road to starting the project. A month later we had a site with people adding content and a few months later we launched to the world.
I hope that you as Wotgigs users enjoy the site and use it however you like. Share your memories, see who else was there, Create a crowd. Share your own music.
It is all relevant from the biggest festival gig to the smallest venue with a handful of people, regardless of genre or style, music is music and live music is just the best. So tell us all about who you have seen and where. Its all cool.
